"Superstar" the Arabic version of the western program
"Pop Idle" witnessed a great deal of success in the Arab
World. After 21 weeks of strong competition the program's first
season of existence came to an end with the victory of Jordanian
contestant Diana Karazon who won the title of first place winner
of the "Arab Superstar Competition". Over four million
viewers from the Arab world voted on Sunday night the 17th of August
and Monday the 18th for their most preferred contestant. It was
announced during airing of the program on Monday that Diana Krazon
received 52% of the votes while her Syrian rival Rowaida Attiyeh
got 47%. Upon winning the competition Jordanian contestant Diana
Karazon did not speak instead she sang a song by Lebanese music
artist Milhim Barakat entitled "Ala Babee Wa'if Amaren"
translated as "On My Doorstep stands two Moons". One day
prior to winning however she did state that she would dedicate this
victory to the people of Lebanon, the people of her home country
Jordan, His Majesty King Abdullah, the Arab Nation as a whole and
last but not least the children of Palestine should she win first
place. It was interesting to see that contestants in this program
moved entire countries, for Jordan witnessed lavish campaigns including
large television screens, posters and e-mail messages urging fans
to vote for Diana. Syria witnessed similar campaigns. The situation
as Executive officer of the Future Television network stated that
"This (program) is the most successful for an Arab television.
There isn't a television program that moved the Arab world like
that," this quote has been taken from the Yahoo News page.
On behalf of the staff of Jordanhere.com and the Jordanian public
at large we congratulate all finalists and Diana Karazon for their
astounding achievements and we wish that the program continues to
be a success in seasons to come.
