The UAE Poetry reading was held at the Royal Cultural Center on July 9th 2002. The event featured the participation of some of the largest and most striking names forming part of the United Arab Emirates world of literary expression. The event served as a means of promoting the poetic works created in the Gulf. It featured the participation of a group of prominent poets including: Meera Qasem, Sa'eed Rasheedy, and last but not least Abdullah Al Ramathy. Poet Abdullah Al Ramathy recited selections of his distinctive Nabatian Poetry. The Poetry Reading was attended by several prominent cultural icons from Jordan including H.E. Mr. Haydar Mahmoud the Minister of Culture. The event proved to hold great cultural weight for all parties involved, for it served as a great source of reference on the unique assets that distinguish the culture of the UAE from that of Neighboring countries.
