The Dead Sea Ultra Marathon was finally held on October 18th 2002
after being postponed in light of the political situation seen in
the region last April. The event presented itself as a grueling,
50km run from the high elevations of the capital Amman, down to
the lowest point on Earth. The Marathon Tradition began in 1993
after the Amman Road Runners (ARR), a group of Jordanians and non-Jordanian
residents decided to present themselves with the ultimate challenge.
This year the Dead Sea Ultra Marathon was proud to sponsor the Society
for Care of Neurological Patients, a local charitable NGO offering
medical help to needy neurological patients. It was held under the
patronage of H.R.H. Prince Raed Bin Zaid. This year the Marathon
was a great success, for it featured a large number of participants.
The run was followed by an award ceremony which in turn was followed
by performance by the Lebanese singing band "The 4 Cats".
Our team was there was there to provide a live Audio Coverage of
the proceedings.
