There are many restaurants spread throughout the kingdom. The restaurants
offer a wide verity of Jordanian and Arabic dishes. Restraints in
hotels tend to offer a more international menu. Complete listings
of the restaurants and their location are offered periodically by
the ministry of tourism.
Mansaf is the name given to the national dish of Jordan. It can
be described as a whole stewed lamb soaked in a yogurt sauce and
served on a bed of rice. Another very popular dish in Jordan is
maglouba. Maglouba may be described as meat, chicken, or fish stew
served with rice. Msakhan is yet another example of the authenticity
of Jordanian cuisine for it is a very tasty dish that consists of
chicken cooked with onion olive oil and pine seeds. This dish is
served with thick loafs of Arabic bread.
Also popular is the Middle Eastern sheesh kabab. Squeezing chunks
of meat and chicken on wooden sticks makes this dish and allowing
them to roast on a charcoal lit fire with the adding of tomatoes
and onions.
All tap water in the country is drinkable; however, tap water is
also available to take on trips to more out of the was destinations.
